In 1959, the company was acquired by Rolf Mießner - still under the name of Leim-Chemie - and from then on, it was shaped by his pioneering spirit. In the beginning, the company primarily produced glues for the furniture industry, but close contact with regional painters opened up a whole new range of possibilities.

The groundbreaking product - the synthetic resin binder CHEMIECOLL - gave painters a perfect foundation for their own "binder paints". That marked the entry into the market we cater to today.

The company has been run under the ALLIGATOR brand since 1966. The name was primarily chosen on the basis of mica scale pigments, which were used in the products at that time and were reminiscent of the skin of an alligator in their appearance.

Pioneering achievement: first automatic large batch production in Germany with raw material storage in silos.

Cementless composite thermal insulation system: the first German cementless ETICS system with test certificate. Organic reinforcing compounds provide the technically best and most durable solution with optimum durability.

New positioning "ALLIGATOR for painters": By departing from mass business and turning to exclusive production for the painting trade and concentrating on specialist wholesalers.

Major fire at the Enger plant. On 24/25 August, approx. 3900 m² of production area were destroyed. The cause of the fire: A short circuit in the forklift loading station.

Reconstruction of the Enger plant: Application technology, laboratory and administration are expanded after the fire.
Certification for quality and environmental management: ALLIGATOR is the very first of the leading manufacturers of paint and plaster products to be honoured with an award for its environmental management.

Expansion: Grand opening of the rebuilt and expanded Enger production plant and foundation of a joint venture with a paint plant in China.

Repositioning: "ALLIGATOR for painters" becomes "ALLIGATOR" with the cooperative integration of the finishing trades as a new target group.

After several years of cooperation with DAW, ALLIGATOR, as an independent brand with its own location and profile, becomes a 100% subsidiary of the group.

Expansion of the training facilities: Opening of the technical centre for craftsmen in Enger.
